I cannot praise Ballymena Runners enough for their organising of this race today. Nearly 400 runners from all over the province and a few from across the water, braved the cold and a very up and down course in Glenariff. There was much encouragement along the way, including a piper at the top, chip timing and scrumptious soup and sandwiches at the end. The goodie bag with water bottle, earphones, neck warmer plus the multi-coloured medal were all bonuses. I was please with run and came fourth in my age group (Men over 60).Thanks BRAC. All for a good cause namely SOS children’s villages, many of those helped being orphans. I thank God for health and strength. I was able to let myself go on the downhill stretches which made up for the walking hands on knees up the steep climbs!
Beat a lot of people a lot younger including old friends from Parkrun (eh Chris!) but nowhere near the top sixty year olds who were well ahead. The rain stayed off as well thankfully. Great way to start the year!
Contents of goodie bag!
At the finish.
